2007 Reports
26 October 2007
At 12:33 EDT, AT&T located the issue and patched around it for the time being. It was a failure in a major OC 12 Fiber ring. We will keep an eye on things and hope that did it.

At 11:46 EDT, I contacted the AT&T NOC and have been informed that this involves a major regional outage of their facilities. They are working on it. The next question I have is do I start with the large dogs or the little, yipping ones?

At 11:22 am EDT, all connectivity was lost. AT&T was notified within 30 seconds and they are working on the problem. The issue is not within the PagePlop system or routers; it is somewhere outside of our facility. So we sit tight, giving AT&T at least 30 minutes to discover, diagnose, and fix the problem before I start killing their employee's pets.
18 June 2007
Service has been restored as of 21:14 edt. AT&T lost a major OC-12 fiber ring due to extreme heat. Right now we are back up and presumably will be so from now on. But there may be some instability in the ring and the software that drives it throughout the night. We will see. Fortunately, a ton of people are on top of this so no matter what happens, it will resolve quickly.
18 June 2007
At 18:42 edt, all lines to our facility went dark. We have notified BellSouth and AT&T of the issue and they are working on diagnosing and fixing the problem. We will keep you updated as the issue proceeds.
